My grandmother is suffering from Macular Degeneration. At first we thought that something else was going on in her mind because she could not recognize us kids when we walked in the room. We honestly thought that maybe she was going a little crazy and we were scared that something was going on in her mind. We were actually quite relieved to find out that it was just an eye problem. She gets along fine now and we are just doing things around the house for her to make sure she can function as her eyes seem to be getting a little worse every day.
I have heard it said that there are actual things you can do throughout your life that make you more susceptible for Macular Degeneration. Is this true? My mother always told me to wear sunglasses but I never liked the way they felt or looked on my face. Could I now be forced to pay a big price for not listening to my mother? Also, it seems that a healthy diet and lifestyle seem to affect just about every aspect of your physical body, even down to your eyesight. I will make sure to eat the proper vitamins so that my eyes stay strong for as long as I am.
